USPF NW

Welcome

Welcome to the new uspfnw.com website, the online home of USPF Northwest. We invite you to learn more about us and our sport by exploring these pages where you can view our most updated schedule of events, meet results, American and State records, pictures of our lifters, rules, and much more.

The United States Powerlifting Federation (USPF) has a long and proud history that goes back to the earliest days of the sport in America.

In 1964 the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) would create a Powerlifting Committee to govern the brand new sport. During the late 1970's the USPF was formed from this committee in order to grant American powerlifters more autonomy from the AAU. To this day, the USPF continues the same federation standards that were established and used from its inception. We also invite you to visit the USPF National Site.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of USPF Northwest and the United States Powerlifting Federation (USPF) to provide powerlifting competition of uniform high quality which is available to all athletes who meet the criteria for membership throughout the United States.

USPF Northwest and the United States Powerlifting Federation (USPF) are both leading powerlifting organizations in the United States. The USPF is a member of the World Powerlifting Federation (WPF). The WPF is comprised of member federations from 15 countries.

USPF Sanction

The USPF is responsible for sanctioning local and regional events where powerlifters can compete in hopes of qualifying for the national level events. The USPF sanctions the National Powerlifting Championship, National Benchpress Championship, and National Deadlift Championship in all age groups, giving athletes a chance to see how they fare against competitors across the country. Top competitors are selected by the USPF to compete in WPF World championships- the World Men's and Women's Powerlifting Championships comprised of the Open, Junior/Teenage and Master Divisions and the World Bench Press Championships, and World Deadlift Championships comprised of the Open, Junior/Teenage and Master Divisions.

USPF D1 allows only single ply gear and requires lifters to walk their squats out of the rack. There is a USPF National Powerlifting Championship, National Benchpress Championship, and National Deadlift Championship. There are also State, American, and World records. The USPF is affiliated on the International level with the World Powerlifting Federation or WPF which holds the World Powerlifting Championship, World Benchpress Championship, and World Deadlift Championship each year. USPF D2 allows double-ply gear and permits the use of a mono-lift.
